Fortnite Island Rankings

Not all Fortnite islands are created equal — and we believe the best deserve to be recognized. That’s why we created a transparent Island Ranking System that celebrates maps based on real-time player activity.

Whether you’re a map creator or a curious player, here’s how our ranking system works and what it takes to earn top-tier recognition.

What Is Fortnite University Island Ranking System?

Our Island Ranking System awards badges to Fortnite maps based on how many players are playing the island at the same time. These badges show how popular — and how legendary — an island has become. Think of it like Fortnite’s Ranked mode, but for Creative islands.

How Do We Determine Rankings

We use static player count thresholds to assign badges. That means your map’s badge is based purely on how many concurrent players are on it — not a relative leaderboard.

Here’s a breakdown of the tiers:

RankPlayer Count Requirement
Unreal20,000+ players
Champion17,500 – 19,999
Elite15,000 – 17,499
Diamond I–III9,000 – 14,999
Platinum I–III3,500 – 8,999
Gold I–III1,000 – 3,499
Silver I–III100 – 999

Each tier reflects how active an island is — and only the top 0.6% of islands ever hit Unreal.

What Each Badge Means

  • Silver: A solid island with consistent engagement.
  • Gold: Gaining traction — you’re standing out.
  • Platinum: High engagement. A player favorite.
  • Diamond: Top-tier design and gameplay.
  • Elite: Exceptional. One of the most-played maps live.
  • Champion: Dominating the Discovery feed.
  • Unreal: Legendary. The rarest badge in the system.

Badges are displayed on each island’s profile page and may also be used in search filters and highlights.

Why It Matters

This system encourages map creators to innovate, optimize, and build experiences that players love. For players, it’s a way to discover the best maps — fast.

Whether you’re aiming for Silver or shooting for Unreal, this system rewards creativity, engagement, and staying power.

Coming Soon: Badge Progress Tracking

We’re working on a feature to let creators see their badge progress over time — so you’ll know how close you are to that next milestone.

Ready to Climb the Ranks?

Whether you’re building your first map or managing a hit island, our ranking system helps you measure success and reach new players. Keep building. Keep iterating. And maybe one day, you’ll hit that Unreal status.
